Cookery & Gardening

This sub-committee gives advice to WIs regarding development of any aspects of cookery, preservation and gardening.  It organises workshops, competitions and conferences and runs food hygiene courses on a regular basis.  Details of all these can be found in West Sussex News.

This event has been cancelled due to Coronavirus.  It is hoped to hold it another time.

Gilchrist & Tiptree Cup Day and Competition
Saturday 25th April   -  10.30 am - 3.30 pm
Thakeham Village Hall

Morning - Talk by Mark Raffan, a professional chef, who will be speaking about his career and working with Albert Roux and Marcus Wareing.

Afternoon - Jean Plaskett, a NAFAS demonstrator, past Area Chairman and Sussex Area of NAFAS President, will give a flower demonstration with the title "As I like it."  The flower arrangements will be raffled at the end of the meeting.

At lunchtime a chance to view the Gilchrist and Tiptree Cup Competition entries.

Tiptree Cup:  1 jar marmalade (any flavour)

Gilchrist Cup:
8 inch round Marmalade cake (undecorated)
6 Orange biscuits on a doily
A flower arrangement in half an orange skin

All to be staged on a 50 cms round board
